Laser Hair Removal: Your Complete Guide

    How Laser Hair Removal Works

Laser hair removal uses concentrated beams of light to target the pigment (melanin) within hair follicles. The light energy converts to heat, damaging the follicle and inhibiting future hair growth.

At Astrabody, we use medical-grade laser technology that's safe and effective for all skin types. Our advanced systems adjust wavelength and intensity to suit your individual skin tone and hair type.

    What to Expect During Treatment

Treatment duration varies depending on the area, from 15 minutes for the upper lip to 60 minutes for full legs. Most clients describe the sensation as a quick, warm snap against the skin.

You'll need a series of 6 to 8 sessions spaced 4 to 6 weeks apart to achieve optimal results. This is because the laser is most effective during the active growth phase of the hair cycle, and not all hairs are in this phase simultaneously.

    Preparing for Your Session

For best results, avoid sun exposure and self-tanning products for 2 weeks before treatment. Shave the treatment area 24 hours beforehand, do not wax, pluck, or use depilatory creams, as the hair root needs to be present for the laser to work.

    Results and Aftercare

Most clients see a significant reduction in hair growth after 3 to 4 sessions, with up to 90% reduction after completing the full course. Some fine or light-coloured hairs may require occasional maintenance sessions.

After treatment, avoid sun exposure and apply SPF 30+ to the treated area. Mild redness is normal and typically subsides within a few hours.

    Is Laser Hair Removal Permanent?

It's more accurate to call it long-term hair reduction than permanent removal. Many treated hairs don't grow back, but hormonal changes and other factors can trigger some new growth over time, which is why some people come back for an occasional maintenance session.
